Children's

Sue Kelly is a Muskoka-based writer for young readers and a former Registered Nurse. Her nursing career took her from outpost work on the Norway House reserve in northern Manitoba to public health postings in Ontario and, eventually, to the role of National Director of Health & Wellness at We Care Home Health Services, experience that continues to inform her interest in Indigenous stories and community life. Her picture book Lucky the Maple Key was longlisted in CANSCAIP's 2025 Writing for Children Competition and selected for Bracebridge's Storybook Trail at Woodchester, unveiled as part of the town's 150th-anniversary celebrations. She has placed four times in the Royal Canadian Legion's literary contest, taking first in 2022 and 2024 and second in 2021 and 2025. A member of CANSCAIP and the Muskoka Authors Association, Sue sits on the board of Hospice Muskoka and hosts the radio program Sweet Spots on Hunters Bay Radio from her home base in Gravenhurst, Ontario.
