Kristy Jackson is a Saskatchewan-based author of the middle-grade novels Mortified and Touching Grass, both published by HarperCollins Canada. Mortified was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award for Young People's Literature and the Forest of Reading Silver Birch Award, then won the 2026 Saskatchewan Book Awards Children's Book of the Year; Touching Grass was named Middle Grade Book of the Year at the 2025 Northern Lights Book Awards and placed among Indigo's Top Ten Kids' Books of 2025. By day Kristy works in communications, drawing on her Cree and German heritage and years spent with Dene communities in northern Saskatchewan; by night she writes, a craft she has practiced for decades. She leads a program delivering books to kids in remote Indigenous communities every Christmas since 2018 and sits on the board of Foundations Learning & Skills, a Saskatchewan literacy non-profit. A member of Whitefish Lake First Nation #128 (Goodfish Lake), Kristy lives near Saskatoon with her husband and their two sons, and writes for middle grade, YA, and adult readers.
