Elisa Carbone writes contemporary and historical fiction for young readers. Across fourteen books, including three picture books, eight middle grade novels, two young adult novels, and one nonfiction title for university instructors, her work has earned two Virginia Library Association Jefferson Cup Awards, an ALA Notable Children's Book honor, and multiple ALA Best Books for Young Adults selections, alongside nominations on dozens of state reading lists. Her historical novels Blood on the River: James Town 1607 (Viking, 2006) and its companion, Poison in the Colony: James Town 1622 (Viking, 2019), remain staples of school curriculums. When not writing, Carbone can be found windsurfing, rock climbing, kayaking, cross-country skiing, or playing blues piano.
