Danielle Paradis has spent her career telling stories about belonging, from the margins to the newsroom to the classroom. An award-winning Métis journalist based in Edmonton, she is an assistant professor of journalism and communication at MacEwan University and president of the Indigenous Friends Association, where her work connects traditional Indigenous knowledge with digital technology. Her reporting has appeared in The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, Chatelaine, Maclean's, the Toronto Star, and APTN, and has earned a 2023 Indigenous Journalists Association award for feature writing and a 2025 Digital Publishing Award for her audio documentary The Place That Thaws. A proud member of the Alberta Metis Nation and a Manitoba Metis Federation citizen, she is also the author of the poetry chapbook Ground Cherries.
